Weston House
MMA
was commissioned in 2002 to design a grand Adams-style
home
on a magnificent piece of land west of Boston. True to its
origins, the house follows Palladian proportions and utilizes
slate, water-struck brick, and limestone to sheath
its prestigious shapes. Special care was taken to marry
the
structure
to the
land, creating an appropriate plinth from which to perch
the home.
The
interior assigned an historic hierarchy to ceiling heights,
room sizes, entablature and finish so the home felt formal
where needed, well-scaled and comfortable. Honduran mahogany
doors and windows complimented the weighted millwork and ornate
plaster cornices.
