Back Bay Townhouse

MMA was retained to restore and renovate this beautiful Back Bay townhouse to its original glory. The home was chopped up by previous renovations and the client's dream was to create a stimulating living environment, utilizing all six floors and roof deck. By emphasizing the vertical circulation, MMA celebrated the grand stair from top to bottom and increased the home's spatial interaction. A large skylight uses the stairwell smartly to bring natural light to the center of the home. Mouldings, millwork and detail were restored, replicated and enhanced in keeping with the original architecture. Quartered white oak, african mahogany, black cherry and bamboo were introduced in balance with the painted millwork to generate a warm and inviting palette.

Each bedroom is en suite and is thoughtfully laid out to meet each family member's specifications. A fourth floor entertainment/media room houses the most current technology in a more contemporary vocabulary of American black cherry, honed slate and simplified detail.
