Architect / Designer 1

Reporting to:

Project Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Understand all required aspects of the client brief (program) and design direction as established by the principal-in-charge
  • Prepare and develop required drawings, models, images, and other documents relating to the design
  • Assist and further advance the design direction as set by the Project Manager and/or Principal-in-Charge
  • Attend, where required, project design and construction phase team meetings; record meeting minutes, and assist the Project Manager with required follow-through tasks
  • Assist the project lead with necessary materials research, construction systems, and any necessary project informational requirements
  • Fulfill the practice’s overall objective in producing first-class architecture on time and on budget with accurate, well-organized, and intelligently conceived, contract drawings and specification deliverables
  • Develop advanced-level competence in contract construction drawings and specifications; advance skills in CAD/3D systems pertinent to this objective
  • Contribute and otherwise assist, as required

Qualities and Skills Required:

  • A Bachelor or Masters Degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture or equivalent
  • Licensed architect or non-registered graduate with 4-8 years of experience
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to undertake the above responsibilities
  • Candidate must be able to take direction from the project manager (or principal) in charge of the project and manage assignments in an organized and efficient manner
  • Excellent organizational skills, accurate and attentive to detail; able to adhere to firm organizational standards
  • Excellent communication skills: written and verbal — articulate and diplomatic manner
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: able to work independently and as part of a team; good relationship building skills, internally and externally
  • Fluent in the English language, both written and spoken
  • Proficiency in a CAD or BIM application (min. 5-years experience)
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, or Google Document equivalents
  • Effective drawing skills
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Flexible attitude

Desirable:

  • Experience using Nemetschek Vectorworks Architect CAD/BIM software (our platform)
  • Experience using SketchUp, Rhino, formZ, or other 3D modeling software, including renderers
  • Experience using online project management tools such as PlanGrid, Procore, BIM 360; Bluebeam Revu, et cetera
  • Ability to use some of the following: AutoCAD, Photoshop, PowerPoint, Pages, Numbers, Asana, Bluebeam, Google Documents
  • Proficiency on both Windows and Mac
