Cape Ann Extension

MMA was commissioned for a phase two addition to our recently completed Cape Ann Shingle-style home. This project sees the addition of a two-car garage with basement access for storage and a bike storage unit sitting sidesaddle at the far end. Above the garage, the family gains a large bonus room with a cathedral ceiling and cupola that drops light into an airy space designed to accommodate extended family and entertainment. An ocean-facing covered screened deck is capped with custom wood-painted truss works resting on shingled columns.

Linking the new bonus room to the main house is a second-story connector with a generous full bath, storage closets, and a kitchenette. A new second stairway leads to the family entrance below. Interior finishes will continue the vocabulary established by interior designer Abby Welling Forstall.

A new plunge pool and pergola extend off the existing ground-floor terrace while a new exterior kitchen with grille and storage are wrapped in the same stone as the pavers.

Completion is due in spring 2022.
