Cape Cod House

MMA created this casually elegant oceanfront home that captures sweeping views of the ocean and dunes dictated by linear arrangement of spaces to best take advantage of the site’s panorama. The result is a contemporary take on the classic Cape Cod house that embodies the best aspects of the heritage of the regional style while making the home responsive to its stunning location.

Judicious use of teak, cedar shingle, beadboard, and copper help define the exterior’s facade, while mahogany and painted trim are deftly balanced on a warm and sophisticated interior. The home’s layout is transitional, allowing spaces to intermingle without losing their unique character. The end result is a layering of architectural vocabulary and spaces as a proper foreground to incredible vistas of the Atlantic Ocean.
